OR4 Technological applications and territorial services

Technological applications and territorial services to facilitate the regional development of activities and services able to provide support to the local and regional stakeholders.

These applications are devoted to identify, define and quantify the contributions that natural and anthropic processes (e.g. wildfires, desert dust transport, salt wedge introgression, biosphere-atmosphere and biosphere-hydrosphere exchanges,…) have in affecting the environmental-climatic conditions in the Italian Convergence Regions.

In particular, advanced techniques and methodologies (based both on observations and models) have been implemented to gather the assessment of the natural and anthropic contributions to the air quality variability in the Convergence Regions, according to the UE directive 2008/50/EC.

Preliminary information on land-water interactions were collected in order to solve important problems in the Convergence Regions such as the introgression of the salt wedge affecting the lives of agro-forest ecosystems especially near the coasts.

A station network for studying the biosphere-atmosphere exchanges of pollutant and climate-altering trace gases has been designed.

Preliminary activities has been carried out for improving of knowledge on the biosphere-hydrosphere processes occurring along the coast-lines of the Convergence Regions. Interaction between natural climatic system/extreme events meteo-sea and historical anthropic impacts along the coastal area land-sea, near the mouth of the Volturno River was promoted. The seismic reflection profile of 537.5 m was acquired with the use of a marine seismic source Watergun in July.

In the framework of I – AMICA High Education program a 320 hour – training course has been started. This course forecast theoretical (200 hours) and practical lessons (120 hours) and it is organized in 5 sessions facing particular topic as like as business planning, UE funding, management, project management and selling high-tech products. During the year, theoretical lessons were concluded while practical lessons will be started in 2013.
