Capo Granitola: new Climate Observatory of I-AMICA facing the Sicilian Channel

j F Y in In Evidenza

Within the project PON I-AMICA, the ISAC-CNR Institute launched observational activities planned under the OR1.1 of the project, thanks to the Climate Observatory of Capo Granitola, that started the measurement activities in collaboration with the CNR-IAMC Institute, that hosts the infrastructure in its headquarters of Capo Granitola, in the municipality of Campobello di Mazara.

Capo Granitola I-AMICA ISAC1

A Capo Granitola / Torretta Granitola (TP) the I-AMICA Observatory provides continuous information on the composition of the atmosphere in the coastal area of South-Western Sicily. The ISAC Observatory, facing the Sicilian Channel, provides measurements about the atmospheric background conditions of the Mediterranean basin and the influence that specific phenomena (eg. transport of polluted air masses over long distances, emissions of mineral aerosols from North Africa, sea spray aerosols, …) can have on the variability of climate-altering compounds and on air quality.
